Artistic Faculty and Staff

Peg Denithorne, Artistic Director,
has been associated with Circle Rep, The LAB Theater, and Circle
East for over 20 years. She served as Circle
Rep's Casting Director as well as the Director of the nationally
recognized Outreach and Education Program. She has worked as an Educational
Consultant for Classic Stage, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and National
Actors Theatre. Peg has taught and/or directed at numerous
colleges and universities including the Graduate Directing Program
at Rutgers University, the Graduate Acting Program at Catholic University,
Juilliard, and most recently, the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She
holds an MFA in Directing and is a member of the Society of Stage
Directors and Choreographers.
Michael
Warren Powell, Artistic Director Emeritus. Artistic
Director of The Circle East Theater Company, has been Artistic
Director of
the NYSSSA School of Theatre since 1989. The Circle East Theater Company
is a newly-formed alliance of theater artists who for over 30 years
have been collaborating and significantly contributing to American
theatre. The company's mission is to create, develop, and produce the
newest of theatre voices that can lead us into the next century of
performance by exploring the classics in innovative ways and by addressing
profound issues of the heart. Mr.
Powell, along with playwright Lanford Wilson, moved to New York City
in 1963 to pursue a career in theater, and in 1985, became Artistic
Director of the Circle Repertory Lab.

Lanford Wilson, one of this country's most gifted and best-known playwrights. 5th Of July, Talley's Folly (Pulitzer Prize), Burn This, and Hot L Baltimore are among Mr. Wilson's well-known plays.

James D. Luse - Instructor of Acting Technique, is visiting Graduate Professor of Acting at Educational Center for the Arts, New Haven, Connecticut.

Rachel Jett - Movement Instructor, is the primary American protégé of Andrei Droznin of the Moscow Art Theatre. She teaches at the National Theater Institute in Connecticut.

Elizabeth Rothan - Acting Instructor, is an award winning actress who recently starred in TRANSATLANTIC LIAISONS Off-Broadway. She teached at the National Theater Institute in Connecticut.
