Our primary goal is to provide support and technical assistance to Districts, Charter Schools, Non-Public Schools and other organizations (Universities, State Educational Organizations, etc.) in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs for limited English proficient / English language learners (LEP/ELLs), as well as foreign language (FL) students within the State’s P-16 initiative. Our website is constantly being updated to make available relevant information and documentation that will support services provided to our students and parents.
Our office has been in existence since 1969. In 2006, Foreign Language Studies (FLS) became part of the responsibilities of this office. Consequently, the title, the Office of Bilingual Education and Foreign Language Studies (OBE-FLS) was adopted.
