What mathematics must
students know and be able to use? That question is answered by the New York
State Mathematics Learning Standard. The standard has just been revised by New
York State teachers and approved by the Board of Regents. This New York Learns
program will visit classes where Mathematics Standards Committee members teach.
You'll see Samuel Gompers High School in the Bronx, Enrico Fermi School of
Performing Arts in Yonkers, IS 119 in Queens and the Capital District BOCES in
Albany. Tune in to meet the teachers who developed the Board Regents approved
NYS Learning Standard for Mathematics. James A. Kadamus, NYSED, Deputy
Commissioner of Elementary, Middle, Secondary and Continuing Education hosts the
program.
