Clarification – Use of Scientific Calculators in Grades 5-8

The language on calculator use on page 12 of the Introduction to the Grades 3-8 Testing Program in English Language Arts and Mathematics should reflect the calculator information found in the January 2005 notice that can be found at http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/3-8/5-8calculators.htm. Tests should be administered in accordance with the policy outlined in that notice. 

NOTE:  Only scientific calculators should be used on the mathematics assessments for grades 7 and 8.
